About RelationShift Advisory
RelationShift Advisory is led by Michael Bassoff, and built on a simple premise:
Organizations that intentionally build strong relationships raise more—and more consistently—than those that manage toward the next ask.
Rather than relying on rigid fundraising processes or activity-based systems, RelationShift Advisory works with organizations to design and implement relationship-driven strategies that produce measurable results—in revenue, engagement, and long-term sustainability.
Each engagement is tailored. Depending on the needs of the organization, we bring together a select group of experienced professionals—including development leaders, financial strategists, and subject matter experts from across the country.
This flexible model ensures that every client benefits from the right expertise at the right time, while maintaining a clear and consistent strategic approach grounded in relationship performance.

About Michael Bassoff
Michael Bassoff is a nationally recognized leader in philanthropy, biomedical research fundraising, and foundation leadership. Over a 30+ year career—including nearly two decades as a foundation CEO—he has built and led organizations that have raised hundreds of millions of dollars in support of scientific research, higher education, and public health.
He is known for his ability to build powerful, mutually beneficial relationships that translate into sustained philanthropic investment—work that directly informs the RelationShift approach.
Michael has held leadership roles at major institutions including the University of Arizona, the New Jersey Health Foundation, and the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), where he served as Founding President of the TGen Foundation and helped secure more than $300 million in philanthropic support.
He is the co-author of RelationShift: Revolutionary Fundraising (with Steve Chandler), which outlines a human-centered, results-driven approach to fundraising—focused not on managing activity, but on strengthening relationships to drive performance.
Today, he works with a select group of organizations, startup companies, and foundations to help them raise more by building stronger relationships.
